A sheer melting pot of sound, the olllam fall somewhere between jazz, prog rock, trad, and a little touch of roots. Founding trio Tyler Duncan<(whistles, pipes), Mike Shimmin (percussion), and John McSherry (pipes, whistles) will be joined by Limerick guitarist Sean O’Meara, Detroit native Joe Hettinga (keyboard), and the olllam’s regular bassist (/fourth founding member) Joe Dart, who has of late soared to bass glory on the wings of the genius that is Vulfpeck.
Duncan and McSherry’s soaring pipes & whistles are a hypnotic, harmonic dream. Dart adds a layer of groove to the repertoire that makes it difficult to resist the dance floor and the masterful drumming of Shimmin - who can arguably hold a solo as compelling as Bonham - calls for vigorous head nodding at the very least.
Expect a stomper of a night with these trailblazing artists as they fuse their unique musical styles together to create the awe-inducing, mesmerising, stand-alone sound that will forever cement the olllam as embodying the spirit of their namesake: the masters.
