Donal Scullion & the Spider Collective

Friday 15 July, 2016 | 9:00 pm - 11:00 pm

| £10

Donal is a songwriter, performer and arranger that comes in many different guises, the most recent of these being The Spider Collective. This 10-piece setup has become a vehicle to perform some of his solo material, including some beautiful string and horn arrangements. The band has gradually evolved after releasing his debut album “Superpowers” last year to a packed crowd in The MAC, Belfast. Over the years Donal has been making a name for himself with Belfast’s favourite live band NI Soul Troop, hard rockers Uncle Social, and emerging reggae force The Vibes. He has also worked as an arranger for the likes of Ciaran Lavery and Malojian and also as a performer and musical director for the comedy contemporary dance outfit Ponydance.

The Spider Collective proves to be a much more intimate affair with a real focus on the songs. A review from their first outing under The Spider Collective banner said “…I can only describe their music from blue-grass to Johnny Cash to the Detroit funk style…this band are worthy of a night with Jools Holland. Can’t speak highly enough of this performance. Best gig in ages.” CultureHUB Magazine.
