Where most festivals act as bandstands for acts to come, do their thing, and go, Soma always aims for something special. This is one of those occasions where special may be an understatement. Renowned Scottish singer-songwriter Eddi Reader and Irish music legend Dónal Lunny will be joined by John McSherry, Dezi Donnelly, and Graham Henderson for a set that will see special arrangements of several of Reader’s songs, interspersed with a selection of tunes by John McSherry and Dezi Donnelly, as well as performances of tunes from the repertoire of Lunny’s classic Coolfin group (that featured John and Graham). This performance promises to be truly unique, and rarely will the term “unmissable” be more appropriate: book your tickets now!

Eddi Reader is a Scottish singer-songwriter, known both for her work with Fairground Attraction and for an enduring solo career. She is the recipient of three BRIT Awards and has topped both the album and singles charts. From traditional to contemporary, Eddi Reader’s passion and meltingly true vocals have made her into one of music’s most popular and exciting performers.

Dónal Lunny is popularly regarded as being central to the renaissance of Irish Music over the last four decades. Since the seventies Dónal has had involvement with some of the most innovative bands to emerge from Ireland.

One of the world’s greatest pipers, John McSherry is A versatile piper, composer, producer and author. John’s playing has featured on Clannad’s Grammy award-winning album ‘Landmarks’, and recordings by The Corrs and Celtic Woman.

Dezi Donnelly is a Manchester based Fiddle player. One of the founder members of the legendary Celtic Rock Band ‘Toss the Feathers’, he is often seen collaborating with the likes of Sharon Shannon and Mike McGoldrick.

Also joining is Sinéad O’Connor’s very own piano player, the very brilliant Graham Henderson. Graham is a keyboard player of wide experience who has been involved in many projects. His sensitivity towards, and minimalist approach to traditional music is ideal for any situation.

Support is provided by singer-songwriter Brigid O’Neill, a singer who has proved her versatility in mixing country and blues with folk, jazz and bluegrass to produce a sound that delights the audience.
